Compensation: $28.67/hour; plus paid vacation time off and comprehensive benefits package.

Location: Parkhill, ON

Schedule: 16-32 hrs/week; varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Summary of Roles & Responsibilities:

Working with children and youth in an out-of-home emergency/urgency stabilisation setting  

Provide support focused on the educational needs of students in the on-site Section 23 classroom and track areas for improvement and achievement toward transition goals, while also facilitating daily routines and programming as needed.  

Act as an advocate for students and participate in team meetings regarding progress, needs, and supports.  

Maintain open communication between school personnel and treatment staff members.

Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants, remain calm and focused in crises while utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills.

Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.  

Qualifications:

• Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Child & Youth Worker (CYC) or Social Service Worker (SSW) - or an equivalent Human Services program.

• Please Note: Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Developmental Services Worker (DSW) certifications do not meet the educational requirements for this position.

• Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support

• Reliable with a demonstrated commitment to being a dependable member of a team

• Understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job

• Proficiency in both verbal and written communication

• Strong leadership, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail

• Ability to work collaboratively with the team and independently as necessary

• Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional and personal boundaries

• Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets

Requirements:

• Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record

• Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Broad Record Check

• Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunisations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position

• Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred
