Duties and Responsibilities
The General Laborer is responsible for completing a variety of duties to ensure cabinetry is finished on time and in adherence to project requirements. The position is responsible for completing projects according to the finishing schedule, maintaining quality control of parts coming in and out of the Finishing Department and ensuring stock levels are adequately maintained.
The job duties and responsibilities of the position will also include, but not be limited to:
· Sanding product and preparing it to be sprayed.
· Assisting cabinet finishers with spraying sealer, lacquer, primer and paints.
· Applying stain by hand and spray application when needed.
· Problem solving ways to ensure projects are completed on time.
· Ensuring work area is consistently clean and free of hazards.
· Informing management of deficiencies and brainstorming ways to minimize waste.
- Assisting the delivery team.
- Operating the CNC machine and other shop related machinery.
Other shop related duties.
Requirements/Qualifications
The successful applicant will have the following requirements/qualifications:
· One (1) to three (3) years of finishing/sanding experience in the millwork/woodworking industry. (Considered an asset)
· Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent required.
· Working knowledge of the woodworking industry, including processes, procedures, equipment and machinery.
· Working knowledge of stains, paint, toners, sealers and topcoats including lacquers, and catalyzation and reduction techniques. (Considered an asset)
- Operation of CNC machine (Considered an asset)
· Knowledge of health and safety procedures relating to finishing and woodworking.
· Strong time management and organizational skills.
· Extremely detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
· Manual dexterity to use woodworking equipment and machinery.
· Must be able to stand, bend, twist and walk for extended periods.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Valid driver’s license required.
