Site Description:

Huron College is a post-secondary educational campus serving students, faculty, and staff, featuring academic buildings, residences, administrative offices, and common student spaces. The site includes classrooms, libraries, dining areas, and outdoor walkways that support daily academic activities and campus life. With consistent foot traffic during the academic year and campus events, the college requires a well-maintained environment that supports safety, accessibility, and efficient day-to-day operations.

Position: Part Time Security Guard  

Site: Huron College

Site Address: 1349 Western Road, London, ON  N6G 1H3  

Hours: Saturday (1530-2330hrs), Sunday (1530-2330hrs)

Payrate: $18.54/hr    

Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement – calculating after 88 hours bi-weekly

Key responsibilities:  

  • Implement security measures to protect property, control access to sites and ensure client rules and regulations are followed  
  • Check In each student – confirm that they are in residence with ID  
  • Maintain confidentiality  
  • Maintain written reports  
  • Perform security checks and liaise with students, customers and the public  
  • Ensure site safety and emergency procedures are followed and maintain written reports  
  • Enforce compliance to company policies and procedures  
  • First Aid – be prepared to administer when required  
  • Maintaining a positive, productive work environment  
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned  

Prerequisites:  

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario    
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)  
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must    
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred  
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills  
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills  
  • Watch for and report irregularities by completing incident reports such as security breaches, facility safety hazards, and emergency situations;  contact emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance personnel as required.  
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)    
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position    
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
