9 Weeks = 8 Weeks in Class + 1-Week Co-op with a Local Employer
Monday- Friday (32 hours per week)
Learn the industry processes to prepare you for employment in commercial and residential construction.
This course is designed with a focus on developing hands-on technical skills. Throughout the course, you will build a large-scale project in the shop, putting the skills you develop in the classroom into practice. Graduates receive all the certifications essential to attaining employment and working safely on varied job sites.
You will learn:
- Construction measurement
- Blueprint reading
- Framing, footings and foundations
- Plumbing and electrical basics
- Drywall installation and finishing
- Ontario Building Codes
- Hand Tools and Power Tools
- Occupational Health and Safety
Certifications:
- Working at Heights
- WHMIS (2015/1988) in Construction
- First Aid and CPR
- Heat Stress Awareness
- Safe Saw Operation
- Worker Health and Safety Awareness
Graduates receive a College Certificate.
Career paths following this program include: Construction Labourer, Roofer, Exterior Residential Labourer, Framer (residential and commercial), Tile Installer, Masonry Labourer, Window and Door Installer, Fence and Deck Installer, Home Renovation Assistant, Demolition and Clean up Labourer
