ob Description – Accounting Supervisor

Black Fly Beverage Company is a fast-growing producer of spirit-based beverages with a manufacturing plant in London Ontario, sales teams and retail distribution throughout Canada. This position is at Black Fly’s Head Office in London, Ontario and will be a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to a candidate who is detail-oriented and good at problem solving. This candidate will work closely with the Controller as well as the Production team to make sure financial records are accurate.

Candidates with previous consumer packaged goods, beer or spirits experience are especially sought after for this role.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and lead the accounting team in day-to-day operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and audit

Review and verify the accuracy of financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations

Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion

Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports to management, providing insights into financial performance

Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes

Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data

Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to accounting staff

Collaborate with auditors and ensure timely completion of audits

Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations, and implement necessary adjustments

Resolve any discrepancies or irregularities in financial records and transactions

Assist in special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed

Filing of documentation in preparation for year-end process

Perform other administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Administration

CPA or CPA candidate

Audit experience preferred

Proven experience in accounting, with at least 23+-5 years in a supervisory or management role

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Strong communication and leadership abilities

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

High attention to detail and organizational skills

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Experience working with an ERP preferred (Microsoft Business Central preferred)
