Position: Associate Director of Year Round Operations

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Employment Status: Full-time with benefits

Start Date: April 1, 2025

Compensation: $41,000-$67,000 annually, 10 vacation days and health benefits

Location: Primarily the Overnight Camp location April through October with some flexibility between camp, home, and London office the rest of the year.

Forest Cliff Camp is a Christian Overnight and Day Camp ministry that aspires to change young lives. It is our mission to create unforgettable and life-impacting experiences that encourage young people to learn more of themselves and God. We host camp experiences for about 5,000 campers and guests each year at both our Overnight and Day Camp locations.

About the Associate Director of Year Round Operations

The successful candidate will have:

Demonstrated abilities in administration and management of an organization or business unit. You will be involved in program planning, booking school trips and retreats, purchasing and planning, property development and Overnight Camp activities as well as have an important role in leading projects and ensuring safety and compliance standards are exceeded.
Hands-on experience in various trades that can help us clean, maintain and improve the 40 buildings at our overnight property. You will require experience in some of the following: janitorial skills, carpentry, plumbing, drywalling, painting, shingling, septic systems and the types of tasks associated with maintaining and improving our buildings (ie. constructing steps or a deck, leveling a small cabin on footings, etc.)
Experience leading teams. You need to be comfortable working on your own, as well as recruiting, developing and managing teams (such as young seasonal team members or adult volunteers throughout the year) to accomplish these tasks

Key Responsibilities

This is a new position at Forest Cliff which extends the past responsibilities of the Site Director to include team leadership and operations management. We are seeking someone with a long-term commitment to the ministry and a desire to develop new skills and grow in your leadership.

Your role extends beyond operations and facilities; you'll be a key figure in fostering a hospitable and welcoming environment that reflects Forest Cliff's values. You'll also be responsible for developing volunteer teams, ensuring safety standards are met, and continuously improving our summer and year round programs to provide the best possible experience for all our campers, guests and team members.

Operations Leader

Fleet management: maintain vehicles, trailers, golf carts, tractors and other equipment
Activity area equipment, operation and infrastructure management
Provide assistance in the procurement process and purchasing of capital equipment
Work closely with vendors to ensure the safe and compliant operation of our waste water treatment system
Engage with our staff team, stakeholders, vendors and local authorities to plan for property use that supports sustainability and the creation of environments that are key to Forest Cliff experiences
Project management related to site development, renovations and new construction

Facilities Manager

Oversee groundskeeping, property maintenance and custodial duties such as cleaning, disinfecting and readiness of bathrooms, dining areas, program spaces, accommodation areas and activities
Maintenance and improvement of buildings through overseeing and completing repairs, painting, roofing and renovation projects
Upkeep and development of critical infrastructure including water, sewage, electrical and networking/IT
Administration of applicable budget areas with careful attention to reducing expenditures and maximizing value
Ensure compliance with all building codes, fire safety regulations, local Health Codes, Ontario Camping Association standards as well as other applicable standards

Team Captain

Primarily responsible for recruitment, training and developing the spring program teams as well as seasonal housekeeping and maintenance teams
Work with the Direction Team to provide a positive experience for all Overnight Camp staff and volunteers
Schedule housekeeping staff, maintenance staff, and volunteer teams
Provide spiritual leadership to staff and volunteer teams as they are united in the mission of Forest Cliff to share Jesus’ message of love, forgiveness and hope

Hospitality and Guest Experiences

Administrate spring school group bookings and provide leadership to the spring program team
Rental group coordination and hosting
Onsite supervision of seasonal rentals
Work collaboratively with our Direction Team to promote, implement and evaluate our experience model

Other

You will contribute to your fellow Direction Team members on all aspects of the ministry but specifically with regards to evaluation and ideas that pertain to the year round operations at Overnight Camp. You will:

Attend weekly “off-season” all team meetings and regular Direction Team meetings as the season dictates
Provide additional support for seasonal staff recruitment and the hiring process

Skills and Attributes Required

Ability to coach and develop team members in a fast paced environment
Proven ability to oversee and manage a $300,000 budget
Excellent communication skills (proven speaking skills to large groups and writing experience)
Ability to work within the larger camp team to work towards common goals
Personal values that match Forest Cliff values

Ability to shift priorities with the seasonality of camp ministry
Ability to lift and move up to 40lbs
Able to stand and walk for longer than 8 hours at a time
Ability to be flexible with regards to working hours and location
Able to drive (G license) with access to your own vehicle
