2024-25 Recess Staff at Montessori Academy of London
Join our dedicated team in creating a safe, joyful, and enriching recess experience for our
Montessori Elementary students!

● Position: Recess and/or After Hours Staff
● Location: 719 Waterloo Street, London Ontario Canada
● Employment Type: Part time (10 – 20 hours per week)
● 11:30- 1:30 Monday to Friday and/or 3:30-530 Monday to Friday (*full week availability is
preferred)

Montessori Academy of London is a private non-profit and registered charity committed to the
Montessori philosophy of fostering independent, confident, and socially responsible children. We
create for our students a nurturing and dynamic environment where they can thrive both
academically and socially.

We are seeking responsible and caring Recess Staff to join our Elementary Yard Staff Team.
The ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children, excellent communication
skills, and a strong ability to manage a safe and engaging playground environment for our
students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Supervise and ensure the safety of children during recess periods and prior to recess.
● Monitor playground activities, encouraging positive interactions and active play.
● Facilitate conflict resolution and promote respectful behaviour among students.
● Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents regarding any incidents or
concerns.
● Provide basic first aid if necessary and report any injuries to the supervisor.
● Uphold and promote the values and principles of the Montessori philosophy during
recess activities.
● Maintain a clean and organized playground area.
● Availability through June 2025 is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
● Previous experience working with children is preferred.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Strong conflict resolution abilities and a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
● Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
● First Aid certification is preferred but not necessary.
● Ability to work collaboratively with the Montessori teaching staff and administration.
● High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in child development, education,
or related field is highly preferred.
● Understanding and appreciation of the Montessori philosophy is a plus.
