Truck Driver and Warehouse Assistant
Description:

The London Food Bank is looking hire a Truck Driver and Warehouse Assistant for a full time, salaried position (37.5 hours/week). The Driver/Warehouse Assistant is an integral part of the Food Bank team. The driver/warehouse assistant is responsible for driving to pick up donations from various sources and delivering food to agencies as required in either a cargo van, cube van or a dock level 5 ton truck. A "D" class license is required to drive the 5 ton vehicle.

In addition, the Driver/Warehouse Assistant works with the General Manager in various warehouse roles, and with other staff teams to ensure the smooth running of the day to day operations of the Food Bank. (Please note that the position is 50% driving and 50% warehouse work.)

Roles and Responsibilities

Drive various vehicles as required from a cargo van to a 24 foot, 5 ton reefer truck-

Load and unload vehicles as required-

Picking up donations from various source, including corporate donors, individual donors, grocery stores, farms etc...-

Delivering food to agencies as needed-

Tracking and Inputting donation data from donors into computer system-

Removal of recycling materials, compostable materials-

Assist general manager with warehouse duties (restocking tables, stock rotation, distribution of foods to agencies)-

Assist general manager with directing and coordinating volunteer drivers- particularly during food drives.-

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

D class licence

Clean Drivers Abstract

1-2 years of relevant warehouse, driving experience

Knowledge of pallet truck, Forklift operator’s licence an asset

Team player with positive attitude

Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Able to prioritize and multi-task.

Good verbal and written communication skills

Able to respond to donors with professionalism and effective interpersonal skills.

Physically demanding position – must be able to lift 45-50 pounds on a regular basis.

Conditions of Work:

Full time - 37.5 hours/week. Monday to friday. (Occaisionaly evenings and weekends)

Wage - $23-$25 an hour depending on level of experience.
